Classic American Roast Turkey
Ingredients:
For the Turkey:
1 whole turkey (about 8–10 lbs / 4–5 kg)
1/2 cup (100 g) unsalted butter, softened
3 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
1 teaspoon dried herbs (rosemary, thyme, sage)
For the Stuffing:
3 cups cubed bread (toasted lightly if desired)
1 large onion, finely chopped
2 carrots, diced
2 celery stalks, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 cup chicken or turkey broth
Herbs: rosemary, thyme, parsley
For the Gravy:
Pan drippings from the turkey
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup chicken or turkey broth
Salt and black pepper, to taste
