Old-Fashioned War-Time Cake

For the Cake:

1½ cups (190g) all-purpose flour
1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
¼ cup (25g) unsweetened cocoa powder (natural or Dutch-process)
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 tbsp white vinegar or apple cider vinegar
1 tsp vanilla extract
⅓ cup (80ml) neutral oil (canola, vegetable, or melted coconut)
1 cup (240ml) cold water
Optional Glaze (Ration-Friendly):
½ cup (50g) powdered sugar (if available)
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1–2 tbsp cold water or brewed coffee
Or simply dust with cocoa or cinnamon
