Heat the milk: Pour the milk into a saucepan and heat over medium heat, without boiling. If desired, add sugar and vanilla extract to sweeten and flavor the milk.
Thicken the milk: For a creamier consistency, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of potato or cornstarch. Mix the cornstarch with a small amount of cold milk and pour it into the remaining milk. Stir until the milk thickens slightly (about 1-2 minutes). This will give the dessert a pudding-like consistency, but without the gelatin.
Pour into bowls: Once the mixture has thickened, pour it into small bowls or glasses.
Add fruit: Garnish with fresh fruit. You can chop it into small pieces or leave it whole, depending on your preference. Strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, or even bananas are delicious! Chill or serve warm: If desired, you can refrigerate the dessert for a few minutes to cool slightly, but it is also delicious warm.
If you like, you can sprinkle the dessert with a little cinnamon or cocoa powder to make it more flavorful.
