Homemade watermelon lemonade

Proceedings

1. Cut the watermelon open. Dice the flesh. Yes, I know it sounds obvious, but take your time removing all the seeds. Even a single missed seed can ruin your drink.

2. Purée everything. Place the cubes in the blender and blend for a few seconds until a juice forms. This alone makes you want to drink it immediately.

Strain (if desired). I personally strain it through a fine sieve because I like it finer, but some people prefer pulp. Do what you like.

4. Add the lemon. Squeeze both lemons and add the juice to the pitcher of watermelon juice. Stir with a spoon.

5. Cold water and personal taste. Add cold water. If you like it stronger, add less water. Taste and add your favorite sweetener if desired. Honey is fine for me.

6. Serve with style. Fill glasses with plenty of ice and garnish with a mint leaf. Beautiful, delicious, and fragrant.

Why I like it (and why I think you will too)

It’s super refreshing and literally quenches your thirst.

Perfect after a walk in the sun or an afternoon in the garden.

It contains no added sugar (if you don’t want any), so you can drink it even while dieting.

It provides you with plenty of vitamin C and antioxidants (thanks, watermelon and lemon!).

Variants

With sparkling water or soda it becomes the perfect drink for guests.

A pinch of fresh ginger if you like it spicy.

For a more exotic touch, add a little lime juice.

conservation

Pour it into a glass bottle and store it in the refrigerator: It’ll keep for up to 2 days. But I’ll tell you the truth… at my house, it’s never lasted longer than an afternoon.
